Course Overview
Clear pronunciation is central to effective communication, and this course is designed to give you a practical grounding in how to teach it with confidence. You’ll work through the key building blocks of English pronunciation, starting with the phonemic chart and moving on to essential concepts such as minimal pairs, voiced and unvoiced sounds, and the role of the schwa in natural speech.
The course also explores stress and rhythm in spoken English, including how to identify stressed and unstressed syllables and the different ways of marking stress patterns for your students. You’ll examine intonation as the “music” of the language, developing an ear for rising and falling patterns and learning how to help learners recognise and use them effectively.
Alongside the theory, you’ll gain a collection of engaging classroom activities—pronunciation games, discrimination exercises, phonemic bingo and more—that you can introduce straight away. By the end of the course, you’ll feel equipped to diagnose common pronunciation problems and support your students in developing clearer, more confident speech.
